Just a day after reports had it that Rajinikanth will be part of the Tamil remake of the Malayalam movie “Bhaskar the Rascal,” the PRO of the actor has claimed that the news is not true.
The latest buzz in Kollywood is that director Siddique, who has given quite a few hit films with actor Vijay, is all set to direct Superstar Rajinikanth. And though we keep hearing that many in the industry are refuting this rumour, we’ve come to know for a fact that Siddique will indeed be directing Rajini in the Tamil remake of Mammootty’s hit Malayalam film, Bhaskar The Rascal, with Rajini playing the role Mammootty essayed in the original. There are also rumours that Rajini might choose to do the remake of Shivaraj Kumar’s Kannada hit Shivalinga, instead of Bhaskar The Rascal, but it’s another matter whether Rajini will be up for another ‘Lingaa’ association, even if it’s a remake!
We contacted Siddique to figure out what the real deal is, and he told us, “Rajini sir is currently busy shooting for Shankar’s 2.0. After completing it, may be in a year’s time, he will do the remake of the Malayalam film. He has watched the film last year at his Chennai residence, and he loved it. But we are yet to sign an official agreement.”
We also got in touch with Rajini’s spokesperson, who as usual, played it safe and said, “Rajini will take a call on his next project only after the release of both, Kabali and 2.0. Rajini has completed Kabali’s shooting, and is now busy with 2.0.”
